Abstract

One of the typologies of modern humans is their attitude of being too proud of science and rationality in dealing with problems. In the spiritual aspect, modern society is always lulled in situations of indulgence, freedom and even secular tendencies that erase the vision of divinity. As a result, modern humans are often stressed, anxious, and not confident. In such conditions, a concept of peace of mind is needed in the midst of spiritual aridity. The focus of this research is how is Hamka's conception of Sufism? and how is its relevance to the problems of modern man? The type of research is library research, supported by a hermeneutic approach, using interpretive descriptive texts or manuscripts of Hamka's Sufism and his other books. The main step of data analysis in this study begins with an inventory of Hamka's Modern Sufism, then it is interpreted objectively and described descriptively and drawn some conclusions deductively by referring to the problems that have been formulated. Based on the focus of the problem in this study, it can be concluded that the concept of Hamka's Sufism is Sufism that is based on real and realistic scientific principles and interpretation of the verses of the Qur'an and is very relevant to today's world spirituality, where zuhud does not have to leave the world while remaining dynamic. achieve personal and social happiness to realize an enlightening and progressive Islam.
