Focus and Scope

Law and Justice is a peer-reviewed journal. That is published biannually and managed by Faculty of Law Universitas Muhammadiyah Surakarta, which is intended as a medium of communication, information and legal science development. This journal contains studies in the Legal Studies which are the results of research in the field of law directed to promote transcendental values, nationalism values, democratic values and Pancasila. The scopes of Law and Justice, but not limited to are legal Studies, Constitutional Law, Criminal Law, Civil Law, Islamic Law, Environmental Law, Human Rights, International Law, and also interconnection studies with Legal Studies. Law and justice indexed in Google Scholar, Sinta, Garuda, and BASE

Peer Review Process

All manuscripts submitted to this journal (Law and Justice) must follow Focus and Scope and Author Guidelines of this journal. The submitted manuscripts must fulfill scientific merit or novelty appropriate to the focus and scope of this journal

All manuscripts submitted to this journal must be written in good Indonesian or English Language. Authors for whom English is not their native language are encouraged to have their paper checked before submission for grammar and clarity. The work must not have been published or submitted for publication elsewhere. 

All submitted manuscripts must be free from plagiarism content. All authors are suggested to use plagiarism detection software to do the similarity checking (please use Turnitin or iThenticate to check the similarity). Editors will also check the similarity of manuscripts in this journal by using a Turnitin or iThenticate software. 

The submitted manuscripts to this journal will be peer-reviewed at least 2 (two) or more expert reviewers from Peer-Reviewers Team. The reviewers give scientific valuable comments improving the contents of the manuscript. Sometimes (if required) a third peer-reviewer is needed to give critical comments to the submitted manuscript. The review process used in this journal is a blind review system.

The final decision of manuscript acceptance is solely made by Editor in Chief/Regional (Handling) Editor (together with Editorial Board if required) according to reviewers' critical comments. The final decision of the manuscript is solely based on the Editor's final review which considering peer-reviewers comments (but not solely by Reviewer).

Publication of accepted articles including assigning the article to the published issues will be made by Editor in Chief by considering the sequence of accepted date and geographical distribution of authors as well as a thematic issue.

Open Access Policy

This journal provides immediate open access to its content on the principle that making research freely available to the public supports a greater global exchange of knowledge.

 

Archiving

This journal utilizes the LOCKSS system to create a distributed archiving system among participating libraries and permits those libraries to create permanent archives of the journal for purposes of preservation and restoration. More...

 

Plagiarism Check

Law and Justice  of Universitas Muhammadiyah Surakarta  recognizes that plagiarism is not acceptable for all author and therefore establishes the following policy stating specific actions (penalties) when plagiarism is identified by Law and Justice  anti-plagiarism software detection (we are using Turnitin )  in an article that is submitted for publication.

 

Plagiarism is copying another person’s text or ideas and passing the copied material as your own work. You must both delineate (i.e., separate and identify) the copied text from your text and give credit to (i.e., cite the source) the source of the copied text to avoid accusations of plagiarism.  Plagiarism is considered fraud and has potentially harsh consequences including loss of job, loss of reputation, and the assignation of reduced or failing grade in a course."

 

This definition of plagiarism applies for copied text and ideas:

 1. Regardless of the source of the copied text or idea.

 2. Regardless of whether the author(s) of the text or idea which you have copied actually copied that  text or idea from another source.

 3. Regardless of whether or not the authorship of the text or idea which you copy is known

 4. Regardless of the nature of your text (journal paper/article, web page, book chapter, paper submitted for a college course, etc) into which you copy the text or idea

 5. Regardless of whether or not the author of the source of the copied material gives permission for the material to be copied; and

 6.  Regardless of whether you are or are not the author of the source of the copied text or idea (self-plagiarism).

 

When plagiarism is identified by the Plagiarism Checker  software,  the Editorial Board responsible for the review of this paper and will agree on measures according to the extent of plagiarism detected in the article in agreement with the following guidelines:

 

Minor Plagiarism

A small sentence or short paragraph of another manuscript is plagiarized without any significant data or idea taken from the other papers or publications.

Punishment: A warning is given to the authors and a request to change the manuscript and properly cite the original sources.

 

Intermediate Plagiarism

A significant data, paragraph, or sentence of an article is plagiarized without proper citation to the original source.

Punishment: The submitted article is automatic rejected.

 

Severe Plagiarism

A large portion of an article is plagiarized that involves many aspects such as reproducing original results (data, formulation, equation, law, statement, etc.), ideas, and methods presented in other publications.

Punishment: The paper is automatic rejected and the authors are forbidden to submit further articles to the journal.
