Kajian Linguistik dan Sastra was named MIBAS (Media Informasi Ilmiah Bahasa dan Seni) and is inisiated by Indonesian Education Department and English Education Department of Universitas Muhammadiyah Surakarta. In 2007, the journal changed its title to Kajian Linguistik dan Sastra (KLS). Before this journal transformed into Open Journal System (OJS) in 2016, this journal was published in printed-edition for 26 volumes (1990-2013). In addition, the newest journal template was first implemented in the 2021 KLS journal edition June 2021 Vol. 6, No.1 (2021).
